The Story of Life as we Know It

We write the story of our life one thought, one daydream, one word at a time. I'm on my 50th draft of a story called "Barry" and it's very much a work in progress - red pens and Post-it notes everywhere. The older I get, the more I enjoy the revision process, asking "What if?" and "Why not?" So what's your story?

Call Security!

We humans think we're the evolved species, connecting with each other through social media, building platforms by blogging and tweeting traffic reports, all in search of an elusive sense of security.  What truly brings us "peace" and "rest" and "security?"  Does chasing it push it farther out of reach?  Other creatures in God's kingdom live in the moment, forever aware something nearby may, "eat me for lunch so I might as well enjoy the grass I'm eating right now (and keep an eye peeled on the bushes)." Does a false sense of security (in a dead-end job, a broken relationship) prevent us from fulfilling our dreams?  I radically changed my life three years ago and went into business for myself and I must admit it's an emotional roller coaster ride. Sometimes I want to shut my eyes.  Other times I want to hold my hands in the air.  But the joy I get in pursuing my passions, though not always as profitable as my former career, far outweighs any security I perceived from salaries and group health insurance.

What do you do to call security's bluff?
